Baylor Communication MA Alumni, Erica Kolson, Awarded for Having a Top Student Paper at Religious Communication Association

Congratulations to Erica Kolson, Baylor Communication MA '23, for her award for scholarship at the 2023 Religious Communication Association's Annual Convention. 

Erica's paper, White Christian Nationalism’s Rhetorical Strategies and Their Impacts on Marginalized Communities, was developed from her MA thesis, and named top student paper at the RCA conference. Her thesis, Awareness or Complicity?: Documentaries' Depiction of Communities Marginalized by Christian Nationalism, was directed by Dr. Scott Varda, and assisted by committee members Dr. Leslie Hahner, Dr. Jeff Nagel, and Dr. Beth Allison Barr. Erica is currently working on her PhD in the Department of Communication at the University of Illinois. Congrats and Sic ‘em Erica!
